I thought Frost Nova would be a cool name for a website, so I bought frostnova.net. That was way back in 2003. Now it’s my blog.

Technical Stuff

The site is hosted by AussieHQ who in my opinion offer the best value for money of all Aussie hosting providers. Their tech support is great, too. Wordpress is my blog CMS of choice, and is highly recommended if you’re going to host a blog. I chose Wordpress after trying out lots of other CMSs, including Drupal, Mambo and Etomite. The more I use Wordpress the more I’m impressed.

The Theme

The current theme is called “Soushinsei” (Japanese for “frostnova”) which is a modded version of the awesome K2 theme. K2 is great but I wanted more flexibility so I hacked up the poor thing to make it do what I wanted. Seems to work OK. One day I’ll put up a page with all my past theme ideas. One day…

The Apps

• Paint Shop Pro for all graphics and prototyping
• Dreamweaver and Vim for CSS/HTML/PHP editing
• Windows Grep for um… searching
• FileZilla. Best. FTP. Ever. (They have a mac version!)
