Yippee! My landlord installed a new split system air conditioner! Beats the P.O.S. I had before which chewed power and did bugger all for the bedrooms. Now I’ll be able to cope nicely with the 50°C days I expect this summer :-) Well, season one of The IT Crowd is now out on DVD in the UK, and you can buy it from Amazon.co.uk. I wonder what the extras will be like. After watching the first season on ABC recently, I feel like I’ve had my fill for a while. So I’ll probably hold off buying the DVD until it’s released in region 4 - if that ever happens. Thanks to the lovely people at Channel 4, it’s been renewed for a second season, and if we are to believe IMDB we should see the first episode on Jan 5 2007! I’m assuming the show has a healthy geek following so hopefully the new eps will be “available” and well seeded a matter of minutes after they finish airing in the UK :-) “Thank you to the overwhelming number of people who shopped in Madman’s recent “$10 per disc 10th Anniversary Sale”! In fact, the response was so overwhelming that our servers struggled with the load, and as a result many people were unable to make their desired purchases.” Just as I had hoped, Madman have extended their $10 per disc offer. Else they face hoards of pissed anime fans! It’s good to know some companies still like to look after their customers. So get busy! You’ve got until midnight, Thursday 9th November. Just activate the discounts first or use the coupon code ‘MAD10BDS’. Full details on the Madman sale for those who aren’t on the mailing list. I already got my order in, but now I’m tempted to see if there’s anything else I want… Here’s what I got:
…who underestimated the raw power of thousands of anime fans in search of “BARGAINS-DESU!”. Well done Madman. You have successfully brought upon yourselves a distributed denial-of-service attack. I’ve been trying for over 40 minutes to order my DVDs. Now I can’t even load the damn page. Some sale. “Hey there anime fans! We’re offering titles at $10 per disc for 10 hours! Only catch is… our webserver is a pissweak piece of shit running Tomcat, so it won’t be able to keep up! Happy shopping desu!” I want my DVDs damnnit! Not false promises >_< “I’m sorry, but if it’s fun in any way, it’s not not environmentalism.” I just signed up for BPAY’s online bill viewing service. Of all the evil corporations I fork over my dosh to, Telstra are the only ones using it at the moment. I’m a bit impressed though. This is such a great idea not only because it saves paper, but because I can see a list of my bills in Internet Banking and pay them much more easily. I just select a bill, click “Pay this bill” and it takes me straight to the BPAY screen with all the numbers filled out. Then I review and submit! Too easy. The service can also notify you by email so you don’t have to check internet banking all the time. How are my shares in BPAY are doing, you ask? ;-) I’m still paying bills so it’s not fun and Leela’s quote is safe for the moment and I can feel like I’m saving the planet. |
