I can understand why they have aimed for a carbon copy of the UK version - they're too scared NOT to, and it's often like that in TV Land. I disagree that they are all "droll", give em a season to get to know each other, and to each find their place in the dynamic. Remember, Top Gear UK has been going for 11 seasons. And that series sucked in the first season, I watched it painfully and was so glad they ditched that awful host. I think it will be very interesting to see what the hosts' racing background brings to the show. It is already obvious that Steve is a technology geek.

Actually, the UK Top Gear is so successful because it manages to attract a <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2007/dec/17/digitaltvradio" rel="nofollow">loyal female audience</a> (40%).

Great, they made AU Top gear. They spent zillions copying UK TP. The format, graphical ideas, even the studio, everything, but they forgot to put three comical and funny mates in it. Instead they used three droll people from an auto background.
James May, Richard Hammond and Jerermy Clarkson were not race car drivers, or cartoonists, before top gear, just average blokes with a bit of a funny matey, streak who just so happened knew and loves cars, which is what people find entertaining and relate to. Heck look at James May hes such a dag and a fuddy duddy its amazing he is successfull at all! But he is, because he is mates with the other two and they geniunely carry on like that in the show, in real life. I feel that AU top gear producers have missed this and thought that if they just get three well known liked guys from a heavily racing car background that they will do. Wrong, they haved missed the point of why TG UK is so successfull.

They have tried too hard to copy UK top gear and used the wrong guys. But out of the three my favourite would be Warren Brown. Please get rid of Steve Pazzati I find him bloody annoying.
