Just let me lie here and depreciate

I’ve been eyeing off the new Intel Macs for a while now, but now the time has finally come. I’m going to buy a MacBook Pro as soon as I can get one with Leopard on it, which looks totally awesome by the way.

I was already 75% going to get a Mac, then I talked to a few MacBook Pro owners who all said “Get it, you’ll love it.” Then I watched these ads, the Leopard movies and found out about the $300 education discount on a MacBook Pro. And there was that last 25%. You might say I’ve been sucked in by their clever marketing, but as someone who’s been using PCs for over 10 years I totally agree with Apple’s take on PC. To be fair though, Macs did suck before OS X. And Apple too have their fair share of dumb design choices. The eMac, for example. And who could forget that stupid wireless mouse you can’t pick up and hold a click at the same time. But it feels like Apple has matured somewhat and those mistakes are now just history.

Watch the ads. They really are quite funny. I mean laugh out loud funny. And mega-cheesy. My favourites are Security, Meant for Work, Counselor, Better Results, Self Pity, Trust Mac, Out of the Box and Viruses. I can’t help but feel some smug satisfaction at the fury these must be inducing in Microsoft execs.

“You are coming to a happy realisation. Cancel or Allow?”

Allow :-)
