While trawling through my files for something interesting to post, I came across this list of computer lab rules written one very fun afternoon by the Whitley IT Committee. Enjoy :-)
- I will not infest the lab with viruses.
- I will not infest the lab with pr0n.
- I will not infest the lab with rats.
- I will not infest the lab with Futurama episodes; room computers are another matter.
- I will not infest the lab with pictures of your mother.
- I will infest the lab with pictures of Janel Moloney.
- I will not infest the lab with pointless lines of gibberish.
- I will not infest the lab with vomit caused by spinning around on the spinny chairs.
- I will not infest the lab with pro-Mac propaganda; I wouldn’t want to make the ITC members cry.
- I will not infest the lab with n*Sync.
- I will not steal all the black whiteboard markers.
- When asked by an ITC member what operating system my malfunctioning computer uses, I will not reply “Office 97″Â.
- I will not attempt to use a Mac, and I will not imply that the puck mouse is a real mouse.
- I will not too use Norton Antivirus.
Upon reflection, I am astounded how anti-Mac some of us were…

Well, season one of The IT Crowd is now out on DVD in the UK, and you can buy it from Amazon.co.uk. I wonder what the extras will be like. After watching the first season on ABC recently, I feel like I’ve had my fill for a while. So I’ll probably hold off buying the DVD until it’s released in region 4 - if that ever happens. Thanks to the lovely people at Channel 4, it’s been renewed for a second season, and if we are to believe IMDB we should see the first episode on Jan 5 2007! I’m assuming the show has a healthy geek following so hopefully the new eps will be “available” and well seeded a matter of minutes after they finish airing in the UK :-)

Have you ever wanted to own your own 3rd rate residential college at the University of Melbourne?
Well, four years ago on October 11 2004 Whitley College was put up for auction … on eBay. As residents, we all thought this was extremely hilarious. So I saved a copy of the page before it was taken down, as any self-respecting geek would do. If you follow the links in the item description, it’s fairly obvious who was responsible. It even made it to The Age’s online news site! Ahhh… I sure do miss those Uni shenanigans.
Frost Nova presents Bleauette, everyone’s favourite blue duck. Fabled to journey through the miscellany of our collective psyches for all eternity. From far away the animals come gather round to see, but she knows not how they feel, and she knows not what it means. Here’s the first chapter in this fateful saga, a collaborative effort between Josh and myself, made possible through the wonders of technology and boredom; not to mention the countless hours alone with a certain blue duck in a certain dark room watching way too much anime till the early hours of the morning.
